Orlando Salsa Congress Fashion

[dropcap size=”250%”]I[/dropcap]f you’ve attended the Orlando Congress in previous years, or you’ve seen photos from previous years, then you know that the “outfits” portion of the planning is not taken lightly.  If you wait to pack for this trip like you would any other congress or salsa event, you’re going to be sorry.

Because there’s so much to do (The Video, Workshops, Night Parties) while in Orlando at the Congress, one must be prepared for all potential activities.  While this makes shopping and packing a terrifying prospect, it also can be loads of fun.

The Congress environment allows people to feel uninhibited & detached enough from ordinary life to wear things that might normally be considered outside their fashion repertoire.

Embrace this!

Fit is key.  Dress for your body structure.  Make sure your body structure can welcome what you’re going to want to wear.  Want some tips on how to get your body … structured?  Check out our Nutrition and Exercise tips.

And color.  Lots of color.  Remember, this is FLORIDA in the height of summertime… not NY or Chicago in the winter.  Let go of the blacks & browns & grays.  Break out the blue.  Break out the white.  Throw a touch of red in there & you’ll have your 4th of July theme all wrapped up… subtly.

Special Note:  The amount of red pants that were worn by men at Salsa Congresses in 2012 may mean you have pass on wearing those again this year. /justsayin’

The Spectacular Hilton Orlando

[dropcap size=”220%”]P[/dropcap]eople always ask “What hotel are we in this year?!?” Seems to us like it’s always a surprise, and you know, we kinda get all excited all over again. This year, we’re in the Hilton Orlando, just off of International Drive, in the heart of everything Orlando.

We had some good times in this hotel. Remember when we filmed OMG? It was here. One reason we love this hotel is how close it is to everything. Food, convenience stores, highways, airport, malls, Orlando attractions… it’s all within a few minutes from the hotel.

We already know you had a great time here, and we know you’re going to have a great time this year.

Check out the map below, if you plan on driving, click on Get Directions to start planning your drive.

Flying to Orlando

ByonwithComments Off on Flying to Orlando

We like to use Kayak.com to search for flights. It’s quick and simple.

Here’s some important information for your flight search:

  • What dates should we fly?
    • You’ll want to arrive for the Thursday pre-party, so we recommend flying in on Thursday, July 4th, 2013, preferably arrive in the early afternoon. Before 5pm should be nice.
    • Flying back home is probably best on Monday, July 8th, 2013. We’ll be filming the Video, probably on Sunday, and screening on Sunday night. And since you’ll be in the video, you’ll want to leave on Monday.
  • What City are we going to?
    • Orlando, Florida
  • What State?
    • Umm………^
  • Ok, what’s the Airport Code?
    • MCO
  • Can I fly into another airport?
    • Sure, Tampa, airport code TPA, is a 90 minute drive. It’s also, coincidentally, 90 miles away. Which means if you are walking, it’s going to take you, according to Google Maps, 30 hours to arrive.
    • Trust us, we HIGHLY recommend flying into MCO.
  • How long is the flight?
    • Derp.
  • Do they serve peanuts on the flight?
    • Purple.
  • How do we get from the airport to the hotel?
    • Here are a few examples of transportation prices:
      • Taxi: $40
      • Bus: $1.50
      • Limo: $85
      • Rental Car: depends
      • Super Shuttle: $35
  • How do we get back to the airport from the hotel?
    • :secirp noitatropsnart fo selpmaxe wef a era ereH
